A major building initiative by Southern New Hampshire University is nearing completion in downtown Manchester.
The university and city on Monday are unveiling a six-story parking garage which will be able to hold 1,700 vehicles in the Manchester Millyard.
The garage is for SNHU employees, who work in a nearby renovated mill building.
The city hopes that by providing designated parking to the university's employees, the garage will free up other parking spaces in the city for residents and visitors.
Some in Manchester fear the parking garage will change traffic patterns and lead to more congestion.
The city is currently applying for a federal building grant to address some of these concerns.
