Top Dem Of House Budget Committee Targets Ryan Plan In N.H.

Democratic Maryland Congressman Chris Van Hollen from came to New Hampshire Wednesday to talk about the federal budget with prominent state democrats and business leaders on behalf of the Obama campaign.

As the top Democrat in the House Budget Committee, Chris Van Hollen has spoken out against Paul Ryan and his budget. Now, he is doing the same thing, this time for the Obama Presidential Campaign, by visiting swing states like New Hampshire.

“Because the Ryan Budget, which has been embraced by Governor Romney, (He said it was a marvelous document. He said he would sign it if he was president), takes a totally uncompromising, hard-edged, right wing, ideological approach to our economy and to our budgets.”

Van Hollen spoke at the political Politics and Eggs breakfast in Bedford. He visited five communities in all, campaigning with congressional candidates Carol Shea-Porter and Anne McLane Kuster. Attendees included former congressman Paul Hodes, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Maggie Hassan and other Democratic state senate leaders.

A Romney Campaign spokesperson said the Obama campaign’s criticisms of the Ryan budget is an attempt to distract voters from the 5.2 trillion dollars they say the president added to the national debt.
