NASA Looking For a Few Good Women, and Men, to Send to the Moon and Mars

Feb 23, 2020

NASA is looking to hire astronauts for the Artemis program, the mission to land the first woman and next man on the moon by 2024.

The space agency expects to pick the next group of candidates by mid-2021, to begin training as the next class of the Artemis generation astronauts.

Job candidates must meet a range of requirements, including being a U.S. citizen, having a master's degree in a STEM field, a requirement that can also be met by other qualifications, including completion of a recognized test pilot school program or two years of work toward a PhD program in a related science, technology, engineering or math field.

Candidates must also have at least two years of related professional experience, or at least 1,000 hours of pilot-in-command time in a jet aircraft.

There are 48 astronauts in the current, active NASA astronaut corps.
