New England College to Sell NHIA Manchester Properties in School Merger

Via NHIA.org

As New England College and New Hampshire Institute of Art finalize their merger, the schools say they plan to sell off a number of NHIA's properties.

The NHIA decided to join New England College last year, citing declining undergraduate enrollment. It is now renamed The Institute of Art and Design at New England College.

In a move it calls "right sizing" to meet its academic mission, New England College says it will keep the majority of the Institute's buildings in downtown Manchester but will sell Fuller Hall on Hanover Street, Concord Hall on Concord Street and St. Anne Church on Union Street.

It will also sell off the Institute's arts center in Sharon and galleryin downtown Peterborough. Employees of the gallery said they didn't know about the sale until this week. A spokesman for New England College says a real estate firm, Cushman & Wakefield, plans to put all the properties up for sale later this month.
