Faculty at Plymouth State University Vote to Form a Union

Faculty at Plymouth State University voted this week to form a union.

By a margin of about 60 percent to 40 percent, the tenure and tenure-tracked faculty at the school voted to organize with the American Association of University Professors.

Professor of Biology Chris Chabot says the vote will give faculty at Plymouth State a unified voice.

“I think this will make it easier for both faculty and administration to communicate with each other and to share the governance of Plymouth State University,” said Chabot.

Plymouth State is one of four public universities that make up the University System of New Hampshire. Two other schools in that system, UNH and Keene State College, already have faculty unions of their own.
