Public Pianos Help HOP Celebrate 50 Years

Dartmouth’s Hopkins Center for the Arts turns 50-years old this summer. Instead of candles, the HOP is going with…pianos.

For the month of July, 50 decorated pianos have been installed in public places around the Upper Valley.

New York, London and Los Angeles have done similar piano projects. The goal is to get the community talking, playing and singing together.

NHPR's Todd Bookman toured the exhibit in Hanover, and filed an audio postcard.

As a general assignment reporter, I pursue breaking news as well as investigative pieces across a range of topics. I’m drawn to stories that are big and timely, as well as those that may appear small but tell us something larger about the state we live in. I also love a good tip, a good character, or a story that involves a boat ride.
