Congresswoman Ann McLane Kuster joins The Exchange on Thursday to discuss the $2 trillion infrastructure spending plan unveiled by President Biden this week.
The first of a two-part proposal to help the nation's economy recover from the pandemic, the plan includes investments in upgrading the country's roads and bridges, expanding high-speed broadband, and shifting to clean energy. In the coming weeks, Biden is expected to introduce a package focusing on what the administration calls "human infrastructure," with investments in education, child care, and other social programs.
To help pay for these plans, Biden proposes raising the corporate tax rate to 28 percent from 21 percent.
Also, we address the federal response to the pandemic, including vaccination efforts, amid warnings of a possible fourth surge in cases, and two gun background-check bills that recently passed the U.S. House.
