Kuster Backs Buttigieg, In First Endorsement From N.H. Congressional Delegation

Allegra Boverman

N.H. Congresswoman Annie Kuster has endorsed Pete Buttigieg in his campaign for president, making her the highest-ranking elected official in the state to back a 2020 Democratic candidate.

The pair will appear together at a town hall event in Concord Friday, according to the Buttigieg campaign. Kuster will serve as a national co-chair of Buttigieg's campaign.

On Twitter Wednesday night, Kuster, a Democrat from Hopkinton, called Buttigieg "the leader who can finally turn the page on the Trump presidency and bring our nation together."

Kuster was first elected to Congress from the state's 2nd district in 2012. In 2007, she was an early supporter of Barack Obama's first campaign for the presidency. Prior to being elected to Congress, Kuster worked as an attorney and lobbyist in Concord.

The three other members of New Hampshire's all-Democratic congressional delegation - Sens. Jeanne Shaheen and Maggie Hassan, and Congressman Chris Pappas - have not endorsed candidates in the 2020 race.
