New Hampshire Milk Production Up Slightly In 2016

New Hampshire milk production ticked up slightly in the first quarter of the year.

The latest data from the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service shows 72 million pounds of milk produced between January and March.

That's up from 70 million pounds in the final quarter of 2015, despite a slightly smaller number of milk cows.

New Hampshire's dairy industry consists of roughly 130 farms, according to Granite State Dairy Promotion.

It produces about half the milk of Maine's dairy farms, and just over 10 percent of the milk produced in Vermont.
