Dartmouth's Geisel School Restructuring: Changes For Some Employees, Cuts For Others

Officials with Dartmouth's Geisel School of Medicine are set to begin notifying workers who will lose or change positions as part of a restructuring.

According to an email signed last week from Interim Dean Duane Compton, department chairs and human resource staff will meet with affected employees starting today.

The email indicated hundreds of employees may be affected, but Geisel officials say most will receive job offers in the Dartmouth-Hitchcock health system.

The changes are part of a restructuring plan aimed at closing Geisel's financial deficit, which stood at more than $12 million in the last fiscal year.

Officials project could reach $30 million without the reorganization.
