Judge Orders DeLemus Detained in Nevada Bundy Case

Josh Rogers, NHPR

A New Hampshire man has pleaded not guilty in federal court in Las Vegas to criminal charges stemming from an armed confrontation that stopped government agents from rounding up cows near Nevada cattleman Cliven Bundy's ranch two years ago.

A magistrate judge ordered Gerald "Jerry" DeLemus detained pending trial with a total of 19 people, including Bundy. They face conspiracy, obstruction, weapon and assault on a federal officer charges.

To date, none has been freed ahead of trial.

DeLemus was transferred in custody to Nevada following his arrest last month in Rochester, New Hampshire. His lawyer, Brian Smith, says he'll appeal the detention order.

DeLemus is married to Republican New Hampshire state lawmaker Susan DeLemus.

He's accused of being a mid-level organizer, recruiter and trainer of armed Bundy backers.
