Salisbury Celebrates Rural Roots of Route 4 at Old Home Day

Every year in Salisbury, for a short time, people in town experience what things would be like without the cars on Route 4.

The highway NHPR has been exploring all summer runs right through Salisbury, a town of 1,425 located between Andover and Boscawen.

Last Saturday, NHPR's Alli Fam attended that town's Old Home Day celebration ... when police stopped traffic to make way for a parade and celebration.

Cars waited for nearly 30 minutes as horses, floats, tractors and children paraded up and down the road.

The parade gave way to an Old Home day celebration that featured local vendors, a pie eating contest and a rock wall.
