Landmark Waterslide At Hampton Beach Is Being Removed

The iconic Cascade Waterslide near the center of Hampton Beach is being taken down after more than 35 years.

Onlookers stopped by Friday to watch a crew remove sections of it.  Elaine Croteau of Manchester said she was inspired to come after a photo of the slide surfaced on her Facebook feed.

"So it's a nice day, so let's go out and look," she said. "We were going to go to Wally's. So ...another Croteau family vacation, fond memories, comes to an end."

Croteau says she took her children to the waterslide in its heyday - though she's never been on it herself.

It's not known yet what will replace the Hampton Beach landmark.
