Transgender Rights Bill Heads to Governor Sununu
The state senate passed a bill on Wednesday that would create legal protections for transgender people in New Hampshire.
The billwould add gender identity to the state’s existing anti-discrimination laws.
It earlier passed in the House and on Wednesday in the Senate by a margin of 14-10.
Senator John Reagan was among the Republicans who joined with Democrats to vote in favor of the measure.
“If we’re not willing to, without sly suggestions, support anti-discrimination on anybody for whatever reasons, then we don’t guarantee it to anybody.”
The bill now heads to Governor Chris Sununu who is expected to sign it.
