He has never held or run for political office. He is likely the only presidential candidate to have been inducted into the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) Hall of Fame.Trump declared his candidacy for the Republican presidential nomination on June 16, 2015.

Hearings into articles of impeachment against President Trump are continuing with the House Judiciary Committee following up on work completed by the Intelligence Committee. The full House is debating and voting on the articles on Dec. 18. NHPR will have special on-air coverage throughout.

Who's testifying this week?

On Thursday, the committee hears from Fiona Hill and David Holmes, the career diplomat who overheard a call between President Trump and Sondland about investigations into Joe Biden and his son. Read David Holmes' testimony.

The week's testimony began Tuesday with Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman and Jennifer Williams, an aide to Vice President Mike Pence.  Read Alexander Vindman's written testimony, and Jennifer Williams' testimony. Kurt Volker and Tim Morrison also testified Tuesday. Amb. Gordon Sondland testified Wednesday, along with Defense official Laura Cooper and David Hale of the State Department.
