ConVal High Student Charged With School Shooting Threat Released from Jail Pending Trial

NHPR

A former ConVal Regional High School student charged withmaking a school shooting threatin late 2018 has been released from jail.

Since November, 18-year old Anthony Wheeler of Antrim has been held without bail at the Valley Street Jail in Manchester for allegedly posting a school shooting threat on social media.

The threat closed down the ConVal school district for a day.

Wheeler is charged with three counts of criminal threatening, and is awaiting a trial in April that could result in prison time.

An attorney for the state argued Thursday that Wheeler should stay incarcerated until his trial, saying he was a danger to the ConVal school district and the public.

Wheeler’s lawyer, Justin Shepard, said he appreciated the school’s safety concerns, but said Wheeler did not pose a danger to the public or a risk of flight upon release.

Wheeler says he plans to live in Lowell with his father and work full-time until his trial.
