A fertility treatment provider says it's planning to build New Hampshire's first full-service IVF center in Bedford. The announcement comes just one day after the state passed a law requiring insurers to cover fertility treatments.
Doctor Kristen Wright with Boston IVF -the company planning to build the new center- says the passage of the law was a big factor in the company's decision.
“I don't know if it would have definitely happened otherwise but it definitely helped finalize our decision about offering a full service center here in New Hampshire,” said Wright.
Boston IVF employees were among those who testified before state lawmakers in favor of the bill.
Wright says the law will increase access to fertility treatment for women across the state.
“We see many patients who come to see us for an initial patient visit who you know would be able to have children with fertility treatment but who simply can't afford to do it.”
Wright says the center will offer fertility treatments that, right now, aren't available anywhere in New Hampshire.
The new center is expected to open sometime in 2020.
