Today's good gig is Melissa Weber a DJ who was raised on vinyl, listening to her father's vinyl albums at a young age and saving them from damage.

She took her love of rare grooves and vinyl and made a name for herself as DJ Soul Sister. She has thrown down her vinyl-only, funk/soul/rare groove/disco/jazz fusion/true school hip hop sets from L.A. to London, she’s performed at Jazz Fest and the Essence Festival, she’s been featured in documentary films and written for books and magazines and opened shows for acts from the Funky Meters to DJ Questlove.

So how does she pick songs when opening for musicians?

She was personally invited by George Clinton of Parliament Funkadelic to DJ his 71st birthday party.

Melissa lets the music and the crowd decide what gets played next, rarely making a set list before hand, instead she relies and providing a feel good experience for everyone she spins for.
