At N.H Town Hall, Harris Calls Trump's Tweet 'Racist and Un-American'

Senator Kamala Harris touched on climate change, health care and pay raises for teachers during her stump speech Sunday in Somersworth, New Hampshire. But the California Democrat’s sharpest lines were reserved for President Trump.

Speaking to a crowd of more than 900 people inside Somersworth High School, Harris labeled Trump a “predator” who preys on the weak, and said his entire platform should be questioned.

“Make America great again? Again, back before the Civil Rights Act? Back before the Voting Rights Act? Back before the Fair Housing Act? Back before Roe v Wade? Cause we’re not going back,” she said to applause.

Riding enthusiasm from her widely praised debate performance, Harris said she was ready to “prosecute the case” against Trump. She also responded to the president’s controversial tweet on Sunday saying four freshman Congresswoman should “go back” to where they came from. Harris said the president's words were racist and un-American.

Harris also questioned the administration’s announced plans for increased immigrations raids by ICE in some cities, calling them unproductive and harmful.

“This is not in the best interest of the health, safety and well-being of a whole population of people, and there is just a smarter way to go about addressing the overall issue of immigration, and you know what that is? Pass comprehensive immigration reform with a pathway toward citizenship.”

Earlier Sunday, Harris attended a house party in Gilford. The events marked her fourth visit to New Hampshire since announcing her candidacy.
