Presidential candidate Amy Klobuchar joined a New Hampshire tradition, Politics & Eggs, hosted Monday at St. Anselm College.
The U.S. Senator from Minnesota told the crowd of voters that investing in infrastructure is a priority in a time of economic stability after bouncing back from the 2008 housing crisis.
“[New Hampshire has] the most people of any area in the country that doesn’t have commuter rail and that’s just wrong,” said Klobuchar.
She voiced support for the proposed N.H. Capitol Rail Corridor project, as well as expanded internet access in rural areas. She said development like this will help New Hampshire fill workforce demands, attract young people and bolster tourism.
“You need more workers to fill the jobs and match that entrepreneurial spirit that you’ve been known for having for so long."
In March, Klobuchar proposed a trillion dollar infrastructure plan, aimed at repairing roads, highways, bridges, expanding public transportation, and building up flooding protections.
Corporate tax increases and bond programs are how she plans to fund the projects.
Klobuchar is polling at 1.5 % in New Hampshire. She has met the requirements for the Democratic presidential primary debate June 26-27 in Miami.
