The humble offices of the Rockingham County Democrats were packed with New Hampshire voters hoping for an early look at Rep. Tulsi Gabbard on Sunday. The 37-year old congresswoman from Hawaii, who still serves in the National Guard, is reportedly one of many Democrats considering a presidential run in 2020.
In Exeter, Gabbard gave a stump speech centered on the importance of love and positivity in political discourse. She also hit progressive notes, including the need to reduce the influence of money in Washington.
“It is only when we the people gather together to take on these interests, to hold leaders accountable, that we can start to see that shift in priorities that put our people, our planet, and our future first,” she said.
This is Gabbard’s second visit to New Hampshire in recent months. She’s also made appearances in Iowa, another early voting state.
After her remarks, she answered questions for nearly an hour, covering issues from criminal justice reform to voting integrity to her support for a ‘Medicare for All’ bill in Congress. Gabbard was an early supporter of Senator Bernie Sanders in his 2016 primary campaign against Hillary Clinton.
