N.H. Voters Head to the Polls to Elect City Leaders

FILE
Today is Election Day for N.H. cities.

Voters in cities across New Hampshire are heading to the polls Tuesday to cast ballots for  city leaders, candidates for school board and police commissioner, and for local election officials.

Out of the 11 city elections, seven have contested mayoral races. That includes the capital city of Concord as well as Berlin and Keene. But Manchester will garner the most attention with the heated rematch between fourth term Mayor Ted Gatsas and former alderman Joyce Craig.

In 2015 Craig lost to Gatsas by just 64 votes.

Meanwhile in Ward 12, Manchester alderman candidate Hassan Essa faces off against incumbent Keith Hirschmann. If Essa wins, he will be the city's youngest elected official at age 20.

Most cities will also be weighing in on whether or not to allow the electronic gambling game Keno.

So far Franklin has already approved it and the state lottery commissioner is expecting most other cities to follow suit.
