Gordon MacDonald is officially New Hampshire’s new Attorney General. He was sworn in Thursday by Gov. Chris Sununu at the State House in Concord.

MacDonald was formerly a lawyer in Manchester at the firm Nixon Peabody. He says his top priority will be combating the state’s opioid crisis but says he’s sure he’ll have his hands full.

“There are I am sure a whole host of issues over there awaiting me and I look forward to diving in on those,” said MacDonald, who was unanimously confirmed by the Executive Council earlier this month.

After the swearing in, Sununu said he looks forward to working with MacDonald.

"He brings real integrity and transparency to the process. We have a great group of people over at the Department of Justice - they need good leadership and he will provide it," Sununu said.

MacDonald succeeds Joe Foster, who held the Attorney General post under former Governor Maggie Hassan.
