Former U.S. Senator Kelly Ayotte has joined the board of the Rupert Murdoch-owned News Corp, which owns the New York Post, the Wall St. Journal and HarperCollins.
Kelly Ayotte has kept busy since she left the Senate in January. She's helped the Trump administration introduce Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch to her former colleagues and she's been a fellow at the institute of politics at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government.
But in winning election as a director of News Corp, Ayotte has joined her first corporate board. In a statement, Ayotte called her board membership an honor, and cited News Corp's "important role in keeping people informed and engaged while focusing on long-term value for investors."
Ayotte is replacing Elaine Chao as a News Corp director. Chao stepped down when President Trump named her Transportation Secretary. Ayotte will serve on News Corp's nominating and corporate governance committee. She will earn $251,000 a year in total compensation.
