N.H. Democrats Attack Republican Nominee(s) for Governor

At a press conference Wednesday morning, leaders in the N.H. Democratic Party say both potential Republican nominees for Governor are wrong for N.H.

The General Election race for governor has begun, with the New Hampshire Democratic Party holding a press conference Wednesday morning to criticize the two top Republican contenders for the corner office.

Executive Councilor Chris Sununu was declared the winner over Representative Frank Edelblut by a narrow margin later that afternoon.

Former state Democratic Party Chair Kathy Sullivan painted Sununu as the wrong candidate for New Hampshire, pointing to his record defunding Planned Parenthood, opposing the state's Medicaid expansion program and opposing an increase to the minimum wage.

“He’s going to try to pretend that he is not the extreme right-wing candidate that he is. He is going to try to run like he is Charlie Baker of Massachusetts but if he is ever elected governor of New Hampshire, he will govern like Paul LePage of Maine,” Sullivan said at the Party's headquarters in Manchester.

Executive Councilor Colin Van Ostern won the Democratic nomination for governor.
