The New Hampshire Republican party has called off an email vote on delegate assignments for the Republican National Convention. The postponement came after complaints by the Donald Trump's campaign.
When Donald Trump won the New Hampshire Primary back in February, he earned eleven of the state's twenty-three Republican delegates. Yet no Trump delegates were part of a slate recommended by the state GOP for committee slots in Cleveland.
Trump's campaign cried foul, and once voting closed, GOP chair Jennifer Horn wrote to delegates that the email vote was cancelled. Instead, the email said, delegates will vote in person on Friday in Concord. But if uniting her party is the goal, Jennifer Horn may have her work cut out for her.
"I believe that her sick obsession with Donald Trump has clouded her judgement so much that she can no longer effectively carry out her duties as chairperson of this New Hampshire Republican party," says Steve Stepanek, a co-chair of Trump's New Hampshire campaign.
Trump's New Hampshire campaign has clashed with Horn before. When Horn called Trump's proposal to ban Muslims from entering the country un-American, several local backers, including Stepanek, called for her to resign.
The national leaders of Trump's campaign aren't going that far. In a statement reported by WMUR, Trump's political director Rick Wiley said the campaign was grateful for Chairman Horn’s decision to cancel the email vote and it looked forward to working with her as Trump becomes the Republican nominee.
