For the first time since the 1990s, Portsmouth International Airport at Pease will be served by two commuter airlines.
Denver-based Frontier Airlines announced on Wednesday that it will begin offering seasonal service to Orlando in December. Allegiant currently has routes to multiple destinations in Florida--including Orlando--and South Carolina.
Paul Brean, airport director, believes there is enough demand to support both carriers. He adds that Frontier isn’t just counting on snowbirds heading south, but also expects tourists heading north.
“They truly see a strong market of Floridians coming up to the White Mountains, the great lakes, leaf peeping, that type of stuff, so we are excited,” he says.
Frontier’s flights will depart Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday at 10:30am, touching down in Orlando around 1:45pm. Departures from Florida will take off at 6:45pm, arriving in New Hampshire shortly before 10am.
