Dartmouth 'Antifa' Expert Ensnared In Controversy

Faculty members at Dartmouth are criticizing the college for its statement about a lecturer who's been speaking widely on the so-called Antifa movement.

Mark Bray is a member of Dartmouth's history faculty and recently published a book on Antifa and its history. He's been a frequent guest on national news and talk shows since the clashes in Charlottesville.

Antifa is short for anti-fascist. Proponents argue violence can be necessary to take on white supremacy.

Dartmouth President Phil Hanlon released a statement last Monday saying Bray's comments in support of violent protest do not represent the views of the school.

But members of the faculty are pushing back. In a letterto the president, they argue Bray's words have been distorted by right-wing media and at no point has he personally called for violence. They ask the president to retract his words.
