Memorial Day Weekend - Programming Note

Just in time for Memorial Day, NHPR will broadcast a powerful tribute to military valor. Actor Stephen Lang wrote and performed Beyond Glory, capturing the stories of three veterans who each earned the Medal of Honor - the highest U.S military accolade, awarded to servicemen and women who distinguish themselves through acts of courage or bravery.

In the program, Lang portrays three veterans: Nick Bacon, a First Sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War; Clarence Sasser, a combat medic in Vietnam; and Hector Cafferata, a Private First Class from the 1st Marine Division during the Korean War. Each of the veterans’ stories are based on their own words, recounting the specific acts of bravery that earned them the Medal of Honor. Each segment is followed by a conversation between Mr. Lang and the host of PRX’s Playing on Air, Claudia Catania.

Beyond Glory will air during The Best of Public Radio, Saturday evening, May 26 at 10 p.m. on NHPR.
