Republican Pam Tucker Enters 1st District Congressional Race

Republican state Rep. Pam Tucker has announced her candidacy for Congress for New Hampshire's First District, facing incumbent Frank Guinta and businessman Dan Innis.

Tucker, of Greenland, is a four-term representative. She had served as deputy speaker of the House under Bill O'Brien and as co-chairwoman of the House Republican Alliance.

She said Wednesday she is running for Congress "to put a positive, forward-looking, reform-oriented agenda into practice."

She said that's been accomplished in New Hampshire "where we faced our fiscal challenges with spending restraint and common sense."

Guinta defeated Innis, a former University of New Hampshire business school dean and former hotel owner, in the 2014 Republican primary on his way to winning the 1st District seat.

The state primary is Sept. 13.
