A judge has declared a mistrial in the case of a former Seabrook police officer accused of assaulting a suspect by slamming him into a wall.

WMUR-TV that jurors could not reach a verdict against Mark Richardson. He was charged with assault after video surfaced showing him pushing Michael Bergeron into a wall at the Seabrook Police Station in 2009.

Earlier Tuesday, the jury foreman said one juror believed marijuana gives people super-human strength and that was blocking a verdict. Bergeron had been charged with driving while intoxicated and possession of drugs. Other officers said Bergeron was struggling and uncooperative when Richardson forced him into the wall.

The judge first asked jurors to continue deliberating then later declared the mistrial.

Three other officers were disciplined following the incident.
