When people talk about shopping local, they’re usually referring to buying food, books, and other goods and services from a regional supplier as opposed to buying online or from big box store.
Still, not everything has a home-grown option. Movies, for example, generally get made in production studios in a select group of cities.
Orion Magazine recently featured an article called “Regional Cinema in the Age of the Blockbuster,” which challenged the notion that movies are a metropolitan pursuit, and looked at tone regional filmmaker who's been working in rural New England for years.
Jay Craven is a professor of film studies at Marlboro College in Vermont. He's the filmmaker behind “Disappearances,” “Northern Border,” and other projects made for - and beloved by - Vermonters.

Putnam Center for the Arts, Keene State College, Keene, NH. Jay Craven will introduce the film and lead Q & A at the Sunday 2pm matinee screening, September 29th.
7pm, Tuesday, October 15.
Rialto Theater, Lancaster, NH Jay Craven will introduce the show and lead Q & A.
NH dates will continue during the next year and into next summer.
