Woman Arrested For Fatal Seabrook Accident; Allegedly Aimed Car At Victims

courtesy N.H. Attorney General.

A Seabrook woman faces several felony charges in the death of a pedestrian after she allegedly aimed her vehicle at and drove into her neighbors Wednesday night.

The New Hampshire Attorney General's office announced Thursday morning that Catrina Costello, 38, was arrested on multiple charges, including two counts of second-degree assault and aggravated DWI.

The state alleges that Costello intentionally struck her two neighbors as they walked on Pine Street with their dog. The AG said Stephen VanDalinda, 64, died, while Erin VanDalinda, 61, suffered serious injuries and remains hospitalized.

Costello is also being charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, and with conduct after an accident, for fleeing the scene. She was arraigned Thursday in Rockingham County Superior Court.

The state is filing three misdemeanor charges, including violation of a stalking order of protection, charging Costello with violating an order that restrained her from any contact with Erin VanDalinda or any of her family members.

Erin VanDalinda had sought a protective, restraining order against Costello, which was issued in September of 2017, after a running series of incidents and altercations, according to court papers and a copy of the restraining order. Mrs. VanDalinda reported being harassed and threatened, and accused Costello and her two pit bulls of damaging her property.

The court documents indicate altercations dating back at least two years, of the five years the parties were next-door neighbors.
