Sununu Nominates Dan St. Hilaire For N.H. Superior Court Judge

File photo

Governor Chris Sununu has tapped a Republican former colleague on the Executive Council to join New Hampshire's Superior Court. St. Hilaire of Concord is now a top manager at the state Liquor Commission.

Apart from serving as general counsel to the commission, St. Hilaire has been a city prosecutor, won election as Merrimack county attorney, and worked in private practice and as a state hearings officer.

From 2011-2013, he served alongside Governor Sununu on the Executive Council.

St. Hilaire's interest in being a judge isn't new. According to his judicial selection commission questionnaire, St. Hilaire first sought appointment back in 2013, when now-U.S. Senator Maggie Hassan was Governor.

Governor Sununu also nominated longtime Goffstown police prosecutor Kerry Stechowych to be a judge. If confirmed, he'd serve on the state circuit court.

Both nominees will face public hearings, and votes by the Executive Council.
