5K in Rochester to Honor Fallen Journalist James Foley

Hundreds of people are expected to run in the James Foley Freedom 5k this Saturday in Rochester. The race is in honor of journalist James Foley who was killed by ISIS in 2014.

Foley, a Rochester native, was a freelance war correspondent in Syria before he was captured and held for nearly two years.

His parents have been  vocal on the U.S. government’s efforts to free him – saying they "failed" their son.

All money raised from the race will go to the James Foley Foundation to help journalists who cover international conflicts as well as hostage families.

Last year roughly 1,000 people ran in the inaugural run. To register for the race, click here.
