Hillary Clinton will return to New Hampshire next Tuesday, her campaign confirmed this afternoon. It will be her first visit back to the Granite State since the presidential primary.
The former Secretary of State and presumptive Democratic presidential nominee will visit New Hampshire on July 12 to “discuss her commitment to building an America that is stronger together and an economy that works for everyone, not just those at the top,” according to a statement from the Clinton campaign. The campaign hasn’t yet confirmed a specific time or location for the event.
This news comes amid reports that Sen. Bernie Sanders, Clinton’s rival for the Democratic nomination, has discussed the possibility of a joint endorsement event with Clinton in the Granite State. Sanders defeated Clinton by 22 points in the New Hampshire primary earlier this year.
As reported by the Associated Press, a Democrat familiar with the plans says the two campaigns of Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders were discussing a potential event next week in New Hampshire, during which Sanders would endorse Clinton.
The Democrat says if the two sides continue to make progress in the talks they would hold the joint event Tuesday in New Hampshire. The Democrat was not authorized to discuss the plans and spoke on condition of anonymity. Sanders praised Clinton’s announcement of a proposal earlier Wednesday to tackle the rising cost of college tuition and the burden of student loan debt. Asked when he might endorse Clinton, Sanders told reporters he was working with Clinton on some initiatives and he was hopeful they could reach an agreement “sooner rather than later.”
Sanders is pushing for changes to the Democratic platform at a meeting in Florida this weekend.
