Labor Dept. To Set New 'Prevailing Wages' For Construction Projects In New Hampshire

The U.S. Department of Labor is looking to gather wage data for New Hampshire’s building and construction industries.

The department is surveying firms about wages and benefits on a range of projects in order to set so-called prevailing wage rates for federal projects in the state.

District Director Dan Cronin says the department is trying to boost the participation rate, which he says has lagged in previous surveys. “There’s a misconception that we’re going to use that data to conduct an investigation,” Cronin says. “The emphasis is to the local contractors, who want to bid on these construction projects. This is how their voice[s] can be heard.”

The Department says companies can participate in the survey through early February 2016.
