GOP Wants Domicile Probe of Democrats; Democrats Accuse GOP of Hypocrisy

Republicans pounced when WMUR reported that several democratic campaign staffers voted in recent elections  using Senator Martha Fuller Clark’s Portsmouth address as their domicile. Clark co-chaired of President Obama’s local campaign in 2012,  and  is Vice Chair of the Democratic party.   She told WMUR that “by and large” the people who stayed at her house and voted were committed to N.H. but given their ages it was “impossible to predict” if they intended to stay. N.H. law requires voters to have an intent to maintain a presence in the state.  Governor Maggie Hassan says she expects the AG to take an appropriate look at the matter.

“I am sure if its necessary that the Attorney General’s office will do what it needs to do, and will do it professionally, but what I think is most important here is we want to be encouraging people to vote.”

The state democratic party meanwhile, says republican political staffers engage in identical behavior. They point to several campaign employees who worked in N.H. during the election, voted, and then moved away. One shared an address with the state GOP’s current political director.
