People in nearly a dozen New Hampshire cities and towns are rallying for action on climate change Friday, as part of a global week of strikes and protests, urging policy-makers to do more to lower carbon emissions.
Climate strikes are planned all over the state, led by activists, businesses, students and parents.
They will hold eventsin Portsmouth, Manchester, Nashua, Concord, Hopkinton, Conway, Franconia, Plymouth and Keene, as well as at UNH and Keene State College. Strikes are also planned in Brattleboro and Putney, Vt., and in Andover and Newburyport, Mass.

Representatives from several presidential campaigns are slated to participate in some of the strikes. They'll also include some students and workers, including from Stonyfield Yogurt, given time off to strike. Other participants will walk off the job or out of school.
The strikes kick off a week of global action on the issue, tied to a major climate policy conference in New York next week.
Activists are also planning a protest at the largest coal-burning power plant left in New England, in Bow, for Sept. 28.
