This Weekend in N.H.: Solstice Celebrations
Good news for those of you who detest the early darkness—the Northern Hemisphere Winter Solstice will occur on Wednesday, December 21, at 5:44 a.m. EST. If you can’t make it to Stonehenge, there are plenty of places in New Hampshire to celebrate like a Druid.
Prescott Farm, an environmental education center in Laconia, is holding a Solstice Lantern Festival on Saturday, December 17, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. There will be a lantern parade, a lantern contest and a bonfire.
The Morning Mindfulness Center in Alstead will hold a Winter Solstice Celebration on Saturday, December 17, from 3:30 to 8:00 p.m. This event will include a celebration of light, with tea meditation and a spiral walk.
America’s Stonehenge in Salem will hold their annual Winter Solstice Ceremony on Sunday, December 18th, from 12:30 to 3:00 p.m. This will be an outdoor event, facilitated by Katja Esser. Advanced preparation is required—check out the web site for further information about what to bring to the ritual.
