Police departments across the state say they are taking extra precautions for Election Day. The New Hampshire Attorney General's office has advised communities to station one officer at every polling place and to deploy two officers at polling places known to be busy.
Joel Dolan, Salem's acting Police Chief, says extra officers will be out in his town, where he says political behavior has been in keeping with recent elections.
"Not anything out of the norm that we haven't seen in the past." he said. "I think it was a little more prolonged here, but we've had complaints from both parties that signs have been missing throughout town."
The city of Manchester plans to have police at all polling places and more plain clothes officers throughout the city on Election Day.
Nashua, which usually deploys one officer per polling place, is planning to have one officer inside and another outside at all polling locations in the city.
