NHPR, Union Leader Collaborate on Live Broadcast
New Hampshire Public Radio, in collaboration with the New Hampshire Union Leader, will broadcast a live debate featuring the candidates in the upcoming mayoral election in Manchester.
In the race to lead New Hampshire’s largest city, incumbent Democrat Joyce Craig is being challenged by former state representative Victoria Sullivan, a Republican.
Craig and Sullivan will meet for a debate at NHPR’s Studio B in Concord on Monday, October 28. The debate will air live on NHPR from 2 to 3 p.m. Peter Biello, host of NHPR’s All Things Considered, will serve as host with Union Leader City Hall reporter Paul Feely joining him for the broadcast.
Topics for discussion with the two candidates may include education, the economy, crime and public safety, and substance abuse.
“We’re excited that two of New Hampshire’s leading statewide news providers - NHPR and the Union Leader - are working together on this debate,” said Jim Schachter, president and chief executive officer of New Hampshire Public Radio. “Manchester voters will get to hear directly from the candidates about the issues facing the state’s largest city.
“The New Hampshire Union Leader has a proud tradition of serving voters around the Granite State including our hometown of Manchester,” said Brendan McQuaid, the president of the New Hampshire Union Leader. “This debate will allow our mayoral candidates to move beyond the soundbites in laying out their plans for the future of the Queen City.”
Voters will go to the polls for Manchester’s municipal election on Tuesday, November 5.
