State Representative Marilinda Garcia won the Republican primary for New Hampshire’s second congressional district.
After claiming her victory before a crowd of cheering supporters, Marilinda Garcia took aim at Obamacare, and linked Representative Annie Kuster to one of the president’s most significant and controversial policies.
She asked for the crowd’s continued support "getting through November and...repealing and replacing Representative Kuster."
Garcia won about twice as many votes as her closest opponent, former State Senator Gary Lambert. Lambert conceded defeat and had gracious words for the woman he called a “liberal for amnesty” during the race.
"Marilinda will stand up for freedom, economic opportunity, and the American dream," Lambert said. "She’s a great young leader for our party."
Big money is expected to flow into this race, which polls suggest is competitive. Representative Kuster has about $1.6 million at hand going into the general election.
