LANCASTER FAIR
Weds. August 29 through Monday Sept. 3, Lancaster Fairgrounds just north of Lancaster on Route 3. Open for 142 years in succession. The Labor Day week extravaganza spotlights agriculture activities, a large midway, 4-H exhibits, diverse musical entertainment and motorized competitions (pulling events and the ever-popular Demolition Derby). The grounds also boast wide clean midways and free parking. For more information: www.lancasterfair.com.

TOWN FOREST INFORMATION MEETING, FRANCONIA
Thursday August 30, 7PM, Town Hall, Landaff. Residents are working with the Ammonoosuc Conservation Trust (ACT) to purchase 840 acres in Easton and Sugar Hill to create a community-owned forest for public recreation. Maps with potential trails will be available. Discussion topics include ownership, management, and how to get involved. For more information: www.townforest.org.

A PHOTOGRAPHIC JOURNEY INTO THE AGE OF OPTIMISM, LANCASTER
Thursday August 30th, 6 PM, Summit Lodge, Weeks State Park, Route 3, Lancaster. Free hors d'oeuvres to celebrate the 2012 programs. The evening program at 7PM will follow a brief Association Annual Meeting, which the public is welcome to attend. The 7 PM program presented by Susan Zizza will take a trip back in time through the vibrant photographs of Glenduen Ladd, a young woman photographer born at the cusp of a new century. A farm wife's late 1800s journal, letters and newspaper clippings from the turn of the 20th century open a window and help bring these images to life.

FALL PLANT SALE AT FRANCONIA HERITAGE MUSEUM
Friday August 31 and Saturday September 1, 9 AM - 4 PM each day. Main Main Street, Franconia. A colorful variety of autumn favorites, featuring top quality North Country-grown mums will be available. And if you haven't been to the museum this season to see the updated displays, this is a great opportunity to stop in for a visit. The museum will be open Friday and Saturdays, 1 - 4 PM, through October 27th, or other times by request. The recently acquired antique farm equipment is on display in the side yard anytime, as well as the Iron Furnace Interpretive Center.

CHILDREN'S THEATER AT LITTLETON OPERA HOUSE
Friday August 31, 2 PM, at the Littleton Opera House. Actors from the Papermill Children's Theatre Company perform original musical adaptations of popular fairy and folk tales, shows appeal to adults as well as children 3 and up, each show runs about 30 minutes, tickets are $5 and you can purchase them at the door starting at 1:35 PM each Friday.

Friday, August 31, 7:30 pm - From The Notebook for Anna Magdalena Bach, by Miranda Bergmeier, soprano, and Susan Ferré, harpsichord and organ, followed by the screening of an historic film, St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, Berlin.
Saturday, September 1, 10:00 am - Quentin Faulkner, Lecturer and Bach Scholar, recent publication of Adlung, with audio-visuals from Bach's homeland, Randolph Town Hall, Randolph.

HIKE THROUGH PROPOSED COOLEY-JERICHO COMMUNITY FOREST, SUGAR HILL
Sat. Sept. 1, 9am, meet at the end of Dyke Road in Sugar Hill. Walk or drive (in 4-wheel drive vehicles if there are any) to the trail going into the forest from Landaff. The walk will be on a Class VI Dyke Road, a gravel logging road, and then old skid roads as elevation increases. Return by noon. Bring kids, dogs, snacks, water, and bug stuff. The 840-acre proposed community forest is part of the largest privately owned roadless area in this region, making it ideal for recreational trails, for wildlife, and for long-term timber management. NORTH COUNTRY CHORUS INVITES NEW MEMBERS, WELLS RIVER, VT
The North Country Chorus, under the leadership of Musical Director Alan Rowe, is a community chorus of about 80 members serving the Upper Connecticutt River Valley of New Hampshire and Vermont. They Chorus typically presents two series of concerts each year as well as three nights of Madrigal Dinners in January. Performances during the Christmas season and in the spring feature mostly sacred works. The chorus welcomes all singers who are willing to commit to its standards of attendance and musical excellence. New members are invited to join the group through September 11.
