Five local seniors walked some or all of the 500 miles of El Camino, a path that stretches from the foothills of the French Pyrenees to Santiago de Compostela, the home of the cathedral that holds the remains of St. James the Apostle. BATH LIBRARY BOOK CLUB FEBRUARY BOOK DISCUSSION
The Bath Library Book Club will be discussing “One Thousand White Women: The Journals of May Dodd” by Jim Fergus on Thursday, February 13th at 6 pm at the Bath Public Library. One Thousand White Women is the story of May Dodd and a colorful assembly of pioneer women who, under the auspices of the U.S. government, travel to the western prairies in 1875 to intermarry among the Cheyenne Indians. The covert and controversial “Brides for Indians” program, launched by the administration of Ulysses S. Grant, is intended to help assimilate the Indians into the white man’s world. Toward that end May and her friends embark upon the adventure of their lifetime. Books may be picked up at the Bath Library; hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays 9:00am to noon and 1:00pm to 6:00pm and Saturdays 9:00am to noon.
