CONCORD, N.H. — A New Hampshire prosecutor has dropped threatening and other charges against the man accused of kidnapping and raping a teenage girl over the course of nine months.
Nathaniel Kibby of Gorham still faces more than 200 charges when he's tried in June in the kidnapping of a 14-year-old girl in October 2013.
But Cheshire County Attorney Chris McLaughlin on Thursday opted to drop charges that the 35-year-old Kibby made threats against the lead prosecutor in the case, Senior Assistant Attorney General Jane Young.
McLaughlin did not immediately return a call seeking comment on why he dropped the charges.
Young declined to comment.
Kibby's lawyer, Jesse Friedman, called the outcome "correct and just," saying the charges - filed last summer - lacked merit from the outset.
