Nashua Latest N.H. Community To Explore Anti-Panhandling Measure

Officials in Nashua will consider an ordinance this week that aims to curb panhandling in the city.

The Telegraph of Nashua reports the proposal would bar the exchange of goods between pedestrians and drivers in a public way.

The legislation goes before the Board of Aldermen on Tuesday.

It’s modeled after an ordinance passed in Concord, though officials there have said panhandling has continued in the city despite efforts to enforce the new law.

Officials in Keene and Manchester are also exploring ways to limit panhandling.

Civil rights and homeless advocates have raised concerns about such efforts.
