NHPR wins National Edward R. Murrow Awards for Excellence in Writing, Hard News Reporting

Great news from the NHPR newsroom. We have been honored with two 2026 National Edward R. Murrow Awards — among the most prestigious honors in broadcast and digital journalism. Presented annually by the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA), the Murrows recognize outstanding achievements in journalism that uphold the highest standards of the profession.

This year, NHPR was honored in two categories:

Excellence in Writing
Multiple entries
Reporter: Todd Bookman

Hard News Reporting
New Hampshire said felons couldn’t be fishing guides. An angler sued to change that.
Reporter: Todd Bookman

“The awards are a testament to Todd’s range as a reporter, his hard work and his connection to New Hampshire issues and people,” said Dan Barrick, Vice President of News. “Though the winning work was published under Todd’s byline, this recognition also underscores the work of the entire news team, which consistently produces top-tier reporting, as well as the work of everyone at NHPR who helps create an environment where good journalism remains at the heart of our mission.”

Locally produced, locally powered

Behind the headlines you read on our website, there’s a dedicated team of journalists working hard to bring you local news you can trust. On any given day, that can look like:

  • • Reporters hustling to track down sources, get the facts and hold powerful officials accountable
  • • Producers coordinating interviews with people who offer perspectives that go beyond soundbites
  • • Editors carefully vetting our stories to make sure they’re accurate, fair and easy to follow

I believe that journalists, when we do our jobs well, can play a crucial role in connecting people and making communities stronger. But we can’t do this work without you.

Your donations, in any amount, can help keep independent journalism vibrant in New Hampshire — and accessible to everyone, no paywall required.

Dan Barrick

Sincerely,
Dan Barrick
