The hosts of NHPR's Civics 101, a podcast refresher course on the basics of our democracy, have written a new book, A User's Guide to Democracy: How America Works. We talk with them about what people should, and often don't, know about American government, and we hear from leaders in NH who are working to improve civics education for students and new Americans.

The ongoing work of the N.H. Institute for Civics Education includes a service grant (through Bezos Family Foundation) bringing the nationally utilized, research-based Mikva Challenge curriculum to 6 rural N.H. middle schools (Henniker, Weare, Gorham, Groveton, and Pittsfield.) Also, the 5th grade curriculum and program, N.H.'s Kid Governor, is now used by teachers in 53 classrooms.
