Trial for Former Senator Woodburn Expected This Summer

Josh Rogers / NHPR

The trial of a former New Hampshire state senator charged with domestic violence is expected to take place this summer.

Jeff Woodburn, of Whitefield, pleaded not guilty last year to nine charges, including simple assault, domestic violence and criminal mischief stemming from the encounters that took place both last year and this year. He is accused of slapping an unidentified woman and punching her in the stomach, as well as biting her once on the hand, and on another occasion, on the forearm.

The Caledonian-Record reports lawyers told a Coos County Superior Court judge they can target a jury selection in early July followed by a jury trial sometime in late July or August.
